Reproduction

Reproduction  :-  Reproduction is the biological process by which organisms give birth or give rise to a new organism. This process is seen in all living organisms- both plants  and   animals. Types of Reproduction  :- Basically there are two types in Reproduction :- 1) Asexual reproduction  :-  Asexual reproduction involves a single parent. It results in offspring that are genetically identical to each other and to the parent. All prokaryotes and some eukaryotes reproduce this way. There are several different methods of asexual reproduction. They include binary fission, fragmentation, and budding. *  Budding :- Budding occurs when a parent cell forms a bubble-like bud. The bud stays attached to the parent cell while it grows and develops. When the bud is fully developed, it breaks away from the parent cell and forms a new organism. *  Binary fission  :-  Binary fission occur...

Excretion (Life processes)

Excretion  :-  Excretion is the process of removal of metabolic waste material and other non- useful substances. *  Organisms like animals have an advanced and specialized system for excretion. *  But plants lack a well-developed excretory system like that in animals. They do not have special organs for excretion and thus excretion in plants is not so complex. Excretion in Unicellular Organism  :- *  In unicellular organisms such as amoeba and bacteria, the waste product is removed by simple diffusion through the general body surface.Unicellular organisms like amoeba, paramecium excrete excess through tiny organelles called contractile vacuoles. *  Undigested food in unicellular animals is excreted when the food vacuole merges with the general body surface and opens to outside. Excretory System of Humans  :- * The excretory system in humans      includes :-     *  a pair of kidneys,   ...

Transportation (Life processes)

Transportation – Life Processes Class 10 Notes  :-  Circulatory system of human being, transportation in plants. Human beings like other multicellular organism need a regular supply of foods, oxygen etc. This function is performed by a circulatory system or transport system. Transportation in Human Beings : -   The circulatory system is responsible for transport of various substances in human beings. It is composed of the heart, arteries, veins and blood capillaries. Blood plays the role of the carrier of substances. 1. Heart:   Heart is a muscular organ, which is composed of cardiac muscles. *  It is so small that, it can fit inside an adult’s wrist. The heart is a pumping organ which pumps the blood. * The human heart is composed of four chambers, viz. right atrium, right ventricle, left ventricle and left atrium. *  Systole : Contraction of cardiac muscles is called systole. *  Diastole : Relaxation of cardiac muscles is ca...

Respiration (Life processes)

Respiration  :-  Respiration is a metabolic process that occurs in all organisms. It is a biochemical process that occurs within the cells of organisms. In this process, the energy (ATP-Adenosine triphosphate) is produced by the breakdown of glucose which is further used by cells to perform various functions. Every living species, from a single-celled organism to dominant   Multicellular    Organisms  form respiration. Types of Respiration :-   Respiration is of two types: Aerobic and Anaerobic Respiration. The food material consumed during the process of nutrition is used in cells to provide energy for various lifeprocesses. Different organisms follow different ways – some use oxygen to break-down glucose into carbon dioxide and water, some employ other pathways that do not involve oxygen. *   In every case, the break-down of glucose, asix-carbon molecule, into a three-carbon molecule called pyruvate is the first...
